If you are interested in elevating your self-perception, then I welcome you to join me for an adventure. It is my hope that if you are reading this blog, you will leave changed in some way. I speak only on what I know through personal experiences, my perception, and interactions with other people. If you feel something I say is not valid, feel free to disagree. We are not bound agree on everything, but I believe we must love through our disagreements.
Before I go on a rant about how powerful you are, let’s do a little exercise. Take a moment to ask yourself the following questions, and give honest responses! No one will know them except for you.
- What are the overarching themes of your life’s message?
- What type of people continue to show up in your life?
- Are you happy with your life in this present moment? If not, then why?
- Are you living the kind of life you want to live? If not, then why?
- Do you have control over where you are in life right now?
- Are you responsible for everything that has happened to you?
After answering those questions, I want you to contemplate what I am about to say. What you receive in this life is a direct result of what comes out of you. Not a reflection of what comes from your mother’s mouth, your employers one sided perspective, or even your partner’s demeaning remarks, but from your own energy. The combination of your thoughts, emotions, and feelings is what creates your everyday reality. Although it seems accurate that everyone else’s problems are what is wrong in your life, you are choosing to be affected by them. Regardless of who you give blame or responsibility to, you are the key character in every experience you have.
We humans are so much more than we allow ourselves to be. We have much more power and value than others have allowed us to believe. We have been taught to rely on external sources for fulfillment rather than trusting in our own knwoing. It is very common to be told you do not deserve something because of your actions, attitude, or even because of your skin color. But that simply is not true. Everything that you aspire to become is who you already are. You can do anything and be anything that you desire, but maybe you just don’t know it yet.
I know it may sound cliché, but the Golden Rule actually carries a ton of weight. You know it says to “Treat others the way you want to be treated,” but what does that really mean? If you go around gossiping about everyone on your job, you can’t expect to not be gossiped about. If you are judgmental towards every classmate that doesn’t make the same grades as you, don’t expect others not to judge you. If we truly loved ourselves, we would not dare harm, degrade, or disrespect other people. We would understand that our actions boomerang right back into our daily experiences. Whatever we put out will be returned in some form. For every action there is a reaction. So I will ask you, what kind of life is your character creating?
